Knoxville — Cassandra Murra, hired to take over as Knoxville's Superintendent of Schools in June, is scheduled to be at the Monday, March 10, school board meeting to discuss recommendations for a new high school principal.
Current KHS Principal Kevin Crawford is among the 27 retirees leaving the school district's employ at the end of the school year. Murra was hired before the new principal to have input into the selection of the other fellow administrator. West Elementary Principal Mike Montgomery is also retiring, but Assistant KMS Principal Linda Abbott will be reassigned to that school. A dean will be selected to fulfill Abbott's current role at the middle school.
Also on the board's agenda is approving a proposed budget for publication and setting a public hearing for the budget. The proposed levy for the district is approximately $14.94 per $1,000 of taxable valuation.
KMS Principal Brian McNeill will also share some of his experiences as Mid-Level Principal of the Year. McNeill received that honor last year.
The board will meet Monday, March 10, at 5:30 p.m., in the board meeting room at 309 West Main. The meeting is open to the public. The full agenda is attached to this article.
