West Elementary students donate to playground

Knoxville — Through voting for their favorite pumpkin, decorated by West Elementary staff members, Knoxville's youngest students were able to raise over $468. They decided to give the money to the Knoxville Morning Kiwanis for its Miracle Playground project.

The Kiwanis have raised over $45,000 thus far for the first phase of a two-phase project to improve Young's Park. New playground equipment and fixtures will be installed when all of the funds are raised. When the project is complete, the playground can be enjoyed by all children, even those with special needs.

Kiwanis Fundraising Chair Ernie Smih accepted the check this morning. For more information, or to see how you can help, call Smith at 641-891-7274.
