Knoxville — The silent auction portion of the 2014 Coaches vs. Cancer event raised approximately $15, 500. Before the basketball games began, Knoxville had already raised over $25,000. Fund raising totals included $830 raised at the Strike Out Cancer bowling event, $9,000 from the swimming fund raiser and alumnus Pat Kading, who collected pledges for swimming a mile, raised $4,200. The gym was packed most of the day for the alumni games, according to Girls' Coach Jim Uitermarkt. Attendance was strong for the varsity games, which raised $720 for the event. The quilt raffle exceeded expectations. The 500 tickets printed off before Saturday were not enough. Organizers had to scramble to print another 100. Knoxville Middle School students, doing their part, had brought in $2,200 in change through the week to donate. Money is still being collected and counted.
