3M Foundation works to "Expand the Dream"

Knoxville — The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum received a significant boost to its "Expand the Dream" fundraising effort Wednesday afternoon from the 3M Foundation.

The NSCHoFM's storage facility effort, known as “Expanding the Dream,” calls for demolition of the existing storage building (the old car wash). The campaign's fundraising goal is $3.3 million.

3M Plant Manager Tracinda Yaw, Human Resources Manager Todd Weber and first employee Mike Husted were on hand to present a $25,000 check to NSCHoFM Executive Director Bob Baker. Baker said the organization's fund raising in matching the expected pace to raise all of the funds for a new, climate controlled staging and storage building. The Hall of Fame anticipated this would take 3-5 from the date the initiative launched. Fund raising is halfway there.

The 3M Foundation celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The organization works with 3M'ers around the world to review, reflect and refresh our giving strategies to ensure that 3M’s philanthropy and community engagement remain impactful, relevant, contemporary and global.
