Bates named PRHC Shining Star

Pella —

Wayne Bates, Environmental Services at Medical Clinic in Ottumwa, was recently selected by a group of his co-workers as the March 2013 Shining Star at Pella Regional Health Center.

Bates, resident of Ottumwa, was nominated based on his attitude, commitment, communication, privacy, and sense of ownership.

Excerpts from his nomination:

“After working two late evenings, he returned to the clinic in the early morning to remove snow and salt from the sidewalks for employee and patient safety. One evening during a heavy snow I went to my car to find a clear path that he had shoveled for me. He is always thinking of others and the clinic.”

“Wayne works nights at our clinic but ensures that he makes rounds before everyone leaves to say hi and see if things are going ok or if there is anything we need him to do that evening. I think Wayne's work ethic and ownership are great assets to our clinic and Pella Regional but to top it off Wayne has an "above and beyond" drive and team approach that definitely makes him a shining star.”

“We're very grateful for how well he takes care of all of our needs here in Ottumwa. He has kept this placing looking like new and the patients are very impressed. He deserves the Shining Star because he's definitely shown us how good you can do your job and how much it will mean to other people when done correctly and with a smile on your face. We're a family down here and we're all glad he's a member!!”

Shining Star is a reward and recognition program at Pella Regional designed to acknowledge an employee each month that demonstrates outstanding standards of behavior and inspires others to do their best.

Bates will receive a $100 gift, an ad in the local paper, a plaque, and will automatically be included in the Shining Star of the Year award.
