Surge in Knoxville, Melcher and Pella May 11

Knoxville —

A Call To Serve (ACTS) Ministries of Iowa has announced that its annual Service Surge will be held in multiple communities on the same day scheduled for May 11, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. (The rain date is scheduled for June 1, 2013.) Participants will gather at a rally point, to be determined by each community, to check in that morning before splitting into work project groups for the day. Each participant needs to register online at www.actsofiowa.org. Sign up will be available in April by community and by project. This will be ACTS 7th Service Surge in the last 5 years.

ACTS is excited to partner with 6 communities this year for a day of service”, said board member Joel Bennett.

The Service Surge hosted by ACTS last year was located in Knoxville and engaged two hundred plus volunteers.

It is a small time commitment with a huge impact on the community,” said Service Coordinator, Breanne Patel.

Most of the projects will be focused around painting, clean-up, landscaping, and other home repair items. All volunteers are welcome regardless of age, skill level, or faith background. General labor, hospitality, photo/videographer, and prayer roles are available.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information about the event, go to www.actsofiowa.org. To nominate individuals in need of assistance, email info@actsofiowa.org.
