Arnold crowned Nationals Queen

Knoxville — Haley Arnold of Sedalia, Mo., was crowned the 2012 Knoxville Nationals Queen Tuesday night.

Arnold said she was overwhelmed after her coronation, but very excited.

"I'm just looking forward to sharing my passion for racing," Arnold told the Journal-Express. She is a sprint car driver herself, having compted in the 360 division at the Knoxville Raceway.

This is the first time she had considered and entered the queen pageant. She was told how much fun it was by past queens. The large crowd in attendance included several former crown-bearers.

Duties of the queen include posing for photos with race winners, autograph sessions and serving as ambassador of the sport during the Nationals and beyond.
