Celebrating 35 years of hot rods

The last 35 years has gone by quick. This weekend, July 11-12, the 35th Annual Bologna Nationals Classic Car Show, hosted by Resurrected Tin, will be held in Pella.

Resurrected Tin is a local classic car organization.

“It was started by a group of hot rod-minded guys,” Ron Hoksbergen said. “We wanted to give participants the best bang for their buck.”

Hoksbergen notes that the Friday ‘Welcome Party’ at South Overlook has been a favorite and keeps participants in the show coming back year after year.

“We still do it (the Welcome Party),” he said. “We go back again on Saturday night to South Overlook for a feed. We provide the entertainment for the participants only. A lot of shows collect their $20, hold a show for 5-6 hours, give awards and you are on your way home. We wanted to give people a good time and a good show.”

The ‘Show and Shine’ takes place on Saturday, around the square in Pella from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

“We have cars and people come from all over the U.S.,” Hoksbergen said. “They come from the Midwest mostly, but we will see people from all over.”

Hoksbergen expects approximately 400 cars to once again participate in the event on Saturday. The downtown show is open and free to the public. For more information on the event contact Hoksbergen at (641) 780-9044.
