Forecasters predict beautiful weekend ahead

PELLA — Forecasters say Iowans can look forward to what should be a beautiful weekend.

Highs statewide should be in the 80s, with southern Iowa seeing upper 80s during the day. That's sightly above normal, but certainly seasonable weather.

Overnight lows will be in the low 60s Friday night and in the mid-60s Saturday and Sunday.

Next week is shaping up to be warmer. That's no surprise, since mid-July is the hottest part of the summer on average. Daytime highs are forecast to reach 90 by Tuesday and stay above the 90-degree mark. Highs by the end of the week could be into the mid-90s.

But that's next week. This weekend should be close to ideal.
