Avenue of Flags up for Veterans Day

Knoxville — A group of about 30 volunteers erected the Avenue of Flags at Graceland Cemetery this morning. 

The morning included a ceremony to honor the memory of veterans lost, those still with us and those who continue to serve. 

Events will be held over the next few days in honor of Veterans Day. The schedule is below. 


• Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m.-Walmart event.

• Sunday, Nov. 11, 7 a.m.-Flag Setting at Veterans Memorial at the Courthouse.

• Sunday, Nov. 11, 7-10:30 a.m.-Free Veterans’ Breakfast at the National Guard Armory.

• Monday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m.-Event at the Knoxville Senior Center.

• Monday, Nov. 12, 2:15 p.m.-Event at Westridge Nursing Center.

• Monday, Nov. 12, 3 p.m.-Flag Recovery at Graceland Cemtery.

Mayor Don Zoutte also proclaimed November as Veterans’ Appreciation Month.
