KHC Receives Excellence in Patient Care Award for Doctor Communication

KHC

Knoxville — Knoxville Hospital & Clinics has received an Excellence in Patient Care award from Studer Group for their exemplary “doctor communication” ratings on the HCAHPS patient survey.

“We are thrilled to have been nationally recognized with our efforts in improving communication.  Doctor communication is clearly a cornerstone of patient care, showing respect, listening to our patients and their families, and explaining treatments plans. This leads to better patient outcomes and a higher level of patient satisfaction,” said Kevin Kincaid, CEO.  “Great communication simply leads to better patient outcomes.  While we have been nationally recognized for Doctor Communication, be assured we are never satisfied and are continuing our amazing work to improve how we communicate with those we serve.  Nothing is more important to us than providing great care with the best possible outcomes in a caring and understanding manner.”

HCAHPS, which stands for Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, is the national standardized survey tool created by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) that measures adult inpatient perception of the quality of care received at hospitals.

Studer Group is an outcomes-based healthcare performance improvement firm that works with over 850 healthcare organizations in the U.S. and beyond, teaching them how to achieve, sustain, and accelerate exceptional clinical, operational and financial results.
