Our Racing Season is Over

Knoxville —

To the editor:
Saturday night and quiet lies over the track at the Knoxville Raceway. Race season is over for 2011. What a great year it was! Saturday night shows were awesome, as well as Nationals.
We have such great drivers, owners and fans. Some drivers come from near and some travel a long distance to come to our track each week. That is sheer dedication. They put on a show for us like no other in the country.
Each week, we the fans are treated with the talent of these drivers. That makes our evening boom with excitement. Thank you, guys!
We would also like to thank Knoxville Raceway and staff. Mike, Brian, Cappy and all the other people, that welcomed us each week. The preparation of the track, the timely manner that the races are run, the cleanliness of the restrooms, bleachers and concourse. The general appearance of the track is inviting, as if to say, “Come on in folks and enjoy a fantastic evening of racing. After all, it is the Sprint Car Capital of the World.”
We are fortunate enough to live one-and-a-half blocks away!
Welcome to Toby Kruse, we know you will do a great job and John McCoy, whom we also know will continue to do the great job that he does. We know that we will continue to enjoy the best Sprint Car racing in the country.
Thank you so much for choosing us to be the Sprint Car Fans of the Year for 2011. We so enjoyed the festivities that we participated in and were very proud to represent Knoxville Raceway, our home track.
Thank you, Cappy, for your many years of service and dedication in making Knoxville Raceway the BEST. Enjoy your retirement. See you in the Spring!
Bob and Ruth Ann Wagner

  • Support DMACC Levy 3
    To the Editor:
I read your hit piece on the upcoming vote to continue the tax levy for DMACC and would like to correct your “facts”. The first point you make is that there isn’t a DMACC campus in Knoxville and there will never be one. There is a DMACC campus in Knoxville. It is an integral part of an existing Knoxville Community School building.

  • Support DMACC Levy 2
    To the Editor:
Next Tuesday you have the opportunity to vote yes to continue the two levies that help support Des Moines Area Community College.  These levies are existing levies that total 26.5 cents per $1,000 of assessed value.  It will not raise taxes.

I am writing as a member of the DMACC Board of Trustees for 10 years. I have seen DMACC grow substantially to meet the needs of many additional students and the requests of businesses.
