Avondale, Arizona — To the Editor:

I hope this note finds you well!  When I think of you both I have fond memories and some not so fond, but always fun memories!!!  I recently learned the reason Knoxville's football stadium was named Ken Locke Stadium. Sad story but classy move to name the stadium after him!

I have always had a very high degree of respect for Coach Marv Sloan and thought it would be a great idea to recognize the success he brought to Knoxville football.  He is still living and I just thought it would be very appropriate to recognize him!!!  A suggestion would be name the field Marv Sloan Field at Ken Locke Stadium. Or hang a sign on the scoreboard or press box that read something to the effect of Coach Marv Sloan, Knoxville High School Hall of Fame, and the years he coached.  Too often we wait until a life is over to recognize a special person so that's why I'd love to see it done while Coach Sloan is still alive!!  I know a lot of the guys that played for him and the respect they had for him was very special.  I think it would be a wonderful gesture and certainly appropriate.

Had he stayed in Pella I would have gotten to play for him and I know he would have made me much better than I was!!!

Thanks for any consideration on this matter.
