---- — A Call To Serve (ACTS) Ministries of Iowa will hold its annual Service Surge in multiple communities tomorrow, May 11, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. (The rain date is scheduled for June 1, 2013.) As of Tuesday afternoon, over 280 participants have already registered to take part in the event. They will gather at a rally point, to be determined by each community, to check in that morning before splitting into work project groups for the day. Celebrate Church will be the rally point in Knoxville. This will be ACTS seventh Service Surge in the last five years.

“ACTS is excited to partner with six communities this year for a day of service”, said board member Joel Bennett. Those communities include Knoxville, Pella, Melcher-Dallas, Ottumwa and Oskaloosa.

The Service Surge hosted by ACTS last year was located in Knoxville and engaged over 200 volunteers.

“It is a small time commitment with a huge impact on the community,” said Service Coordinator, Breanne Patel.

Most of the projects will be focused around painting, clean-up, landscaping, and other home repair items. All volunteers are welcome regardless of age, skill level, or faith background. General labor, hospitality, photo/videographer, and prayer roles are available.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information about the event, go to www.actsofiowa.org.
