Knoxville — Brian Fridley and two representatives of his company were in Knoxville Tuesday afternoon to officially transfer the title of the movie theater to the Grand Theater Foundation.
Fridley handed over the keys and blueprints to the building, while Dylan Morse, on behalf of the Foundation, handed over a check and other paperwork. The transfer of the property will now be filed with the Marion County Recorder's Office.
While inside, one can see a ticket chopper box, under construction by Curt Schwanebeck. Morse said the boxes will be placed at different locations around Knoxville to raise awareness of, and funds for, the theater.
Fridley Theatres purchased the building approximately four years ago. The company had leased the property from Carl Schwanebeck from 1995 until that time.
