Band meeting for fifth grade parents

The Journal Express

---- — If your child wants to join band, there will be an Informational Meeting for parents on Tuesday, May 28, from 6-7 p.m. in the KMS Music Room. This meeting is for any incoming sixth grader that is interested in joining band for the 2013-14 school year. We will discuss the band rental night, summer lessons, and other important information concerning 6th grade band.

On Tuesday, June 4, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the KMS Music Room, is Sixth Grade Band Rental Night. Sixth grade parents will be able to set their child up with a musical instrument for the 2013-14 school year.

You can come at any point during the time, and should plan to be there for up to 30 minutes, depending on the number of people. Rieman Music will be here with instruments for you to rent or purchase. If you have an instrument, please take it to a music repair shop to make sure it is in good playing condition. You may also bring the instrument to band night and have it looked over; however, if your instrument needs repairs, it will delay when your student can start band lessons.

Please also refrain from purchasing musical instruments online. They might be cheaper in price, but the quality is not good at all. The instruments will break within the first month of playing, and the repair shop won’t be willing to fix them. If you do purchase an instrument online, please contact Band Director Tim McBride before you buy it.

“I am really excited about the upcoming year and about having a wonderful 6th grade band for the 2013-2014 school year,” McBride said. “If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by email: or by phone at 641-842-3315 ext. 108.”
