Audit report on Knoxville Schools

Nolte, Cornman and Johnson, P.C., released an audit report on the Knoxville Community School District.

The district’s revenues totaled $22,556,771 for the year ended June 30, 2012, a 2.7 percent increase from the prior year. Revenues included $6,696,277 in local tax, statewide sales, services and use tax of $1,309,803; charges for services of $1,384,144; operating grants, contributions and restricted interest of $1,981,052; capital grants, contributions and restricted interest of $149,930; unrestricted state grants of $10,492,963; nonspecific program federal grants of $336,953; unrestricted interest of $15,700 and other general revenues of $189,949.

Expenses for district operations totaled $20,327,504, a 2.19 percent decrease from the prior year. Expenses included $7,910,534 for regular instruction, $2,635,769 for other instruction and $2,352,335 for special instruction.
