Breaking news: Two more charged in juvenile video incident

Knoxville —

The Knoxville Police Department announced moments ago that charges have been filed against two other suspects regarding an alleged sexual encounter involving a 15-year-old girl that was recorded in February.

As reported, Jake Christian Smith, 19, of Knoxville, was arrested last week on charges of third-degree sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a minor. Smith allegedly received oral sex from the minor. The incident, according to court documents, was video and audio recorded on a laptop computer.

Two additional people are now being charged. The first is Jordan Donovan Cowman, 19, of Des Moines. Cowman is being charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a class C felony. Police believe he is the person responsible for recording the alleged encounter.

The other individual being charged at this time is a 17-year-old rural Knoxville girl. She is also being charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, an aggravated misdemeanor. Police say she received the recording and showed it to at least one other person.

Felony Sexual explitation of a minor is punishable by confinement for no more than ten years and a fine of at least $1,000 but not more than $10,000. The Knoxville Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident.

Smith is scheduled to appear in Marion County District Court Friday morning. We will continue to follow this story as it progresses.
