---- — Knoxville Hospital & Clinics has acquired the latest in MR technology by completing the installation of the new Vantage Titan from Toshiba. The new “open-bore” of the 1.5T Vantage Titan MR system provides a 35 percent increase in imaging area, resulting in a significantly enhanced patient experience.
The Toshiba Vantage Titan is a dramatic improvement over traditional open-bore MR systems, as it offers the largest and widest bore available for high field strength. 70 percent of studies can be performed feet first, with the patient’s head comfortably lying outside of the opening, which creates a better imaging experience for all patients, especially those with claustrophobia.
The Vantage Titan’s large clinical “field of view” is unique for this bore size and produces high-quality images without compromising detail or overall imaging performance. The Vantage Titan’s bore size offers more space for patients inside the machine.
“Our new Vantage Titan is a dramatic improvement over traditional MR systems, as it offers the largest and widest patient opening available with a significant reduction in noise,” said Bobi Mart, Chief MRI Technologist at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics. “The Vantage Titan’s large clinical field of view is unique for this opening size and produces high quality images without compromising overall imaging performance.”
The Vantage Titan MR system also takes advantage of Toshiba’s proprietary contrast-free MR angiography techniques- Fresh Blood Imaging (FBI), Contrast-free Improved Angiography (CIA), Time-Spatial Labeling Inversion Pulse (Time-Slip) and Time and Space Angiography (TSA).
Mart states “contrast-free imaging is important for patient safety and cost because gadolinium-the most common contrast agent used for MRI and MRA exams-is an additional cost to the patient and the hospital, plus the patient avoids intravenous injections during the study.”
Imaging services at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics are available Monday through Friday. In addition to MRI, we also offer diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, CT scanning, bone density testing, EKG, digital mammography, and nuclear medicine. For all of your imaging needs, call 641-842-1466.
