PPD, DEA team up for 'Take it Back' event

Pella — On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Pella Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration will team up for a “Take it Back” event at Walmart.

Lt. Shane Cox said the event will allow people to bring in unused medications for proper disposal. The DEA will handle the disposition of the prescription medications brought in to Walmart between 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

This is a first for the PPD.

Cox said the intention is to keep these drugs off of the streets and provide a free outlet for residents to dispose of them.

“I think it’ll be a good thing,” Cox said.
