"Jury still out" on Obamacare

Steve Woodhouse

Knoxville — Congressman Dave Loebsack said on Tuesday that the "jury is still out" on whether or not the 2010 health care reform law will be a good thing or bad thing.

Loebsack voted to pass the law on March 21, 2010. He said he has seen good things come out of the law, including attempts to keep prescription drug care costs down and taking away lifetime medical coverage caps.

"There are things like that that are really important," Loebsack said. He said he would still support it, though, according to Rasmussen, 48 percent of Americans want their governors to oppose the law and 57 percent expect the health care system to worsen in the coming years.

Loebsack is anxious to see what effects the law will have once it is fully implemented. The Obama Administration unilaterally announced earlier this week that the requirements for employers will be delayed a year, though individual requirements are still scheduled to kick in on Jan. 1, 2014.
