"Thanks in part to the support of people like those in Knoxville and Marion County, the American Cancer Society is leading the way in the fight to end cancer: from discovering lifesaving cancer breakthroughs to helping people with cancer today get the help, support and resources they need to get well," ACS spokesperson Denise Conrad wrote in an email. "In Iowa right now we are funding $3.325 million dollars to nine researchers. Cancer.org and our 800 number help cancer patients and their families daily and our transportation services provides rides to live saving treatments. For example $20 can help provide free information and support for someone facing cancer, $50 can help provide seven rides to or from treatment and $100 can help guide two women facing cancer through every step of their journey."
