DES MOINES — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the entire region, highlighting the potential for freezing rain in the coming days.
The outlook spotlights Thursday and Thursday night, when rain is expected to change over to freezing rain and snow. Accumulations aren't expected to be large, but it doesn't take much ice to become a headache when you have to scrape it off your car or deal with it on the roads.
Southern Iowa could face a one-two punch from winter weather as we move into the weekend. A large winter storm is taking shape, but its exact path is uncertain. Forecasters expect snow, but the worst of it should be to the south of Marion County.
