Pleasantville — A Pleasantville woman is accused of running over a man with her pickup truck on Saturday.
According to court documents, Theresa Marie Schmidt, 43, of Pleasantville, was driving her truck at 798 G-40 outside Pleasantville, attempting to run over several people. Five witnesses told Deputy Troy Bouma and Pleasantville Police Officer Tim Cox that she had been combative for a few hours prior to the incident. She allegedly got into a fight with one of the witnesses, and had to physically be pulled off of the first victim by another.
When that happened, Schmidt reportedly got into her Dodge Ram pickup and began to try to hit everyone. One man, Ryan Maschke, was standing near gas tanks on the property. He was flagging her, trying to keep her from hitting the tanks.
As she approached him in the truck, he tried to run, but he was struck in the back of the legs with the vehicle. The force knocked him into a golf cart, which caused further injuries.
Other witnesses allegedly told Schmidt that she struck Maschke and she left in a hurry. Bouma reported seeing tire marks made by a fast getaway.
Schmidt told officers she did not remember her actions inside the truck, but did remember hearing the witnesses tell her she had hit someone. When she left, she drove around the County for an hour before calling 911, but she did not mentioned an accident involving injury, according to court documents.
She has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and assault with intent to do injury. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28 at 9:30 a.m.
