Public Hearings on School Board Agenda

Knoxville — The Knoxville School Board will meet in regular session tonight (Monday, April 8) at 5:30 p.m. It will include public hearings on the district's budget and the 2013-14 school calendar. 

The district's proposed property tax levy for the coming year is $15.495 per $1,000 of taxable valuation. Prior to passing the budget, which must be submitted to the State, the public has the opportunity to provide its input.

The other public hearing is in regard to the 2013-14 school calendar. The proposed first day of school would be Aug. 19. A resolution must also be passed by the board to seek a waiver to start school this early. 

Other items on the board's agenda include sharing agreements with other local districts, a change order related to teh auditorium, approval of football camps and the bid for the cooling tower replacement at the high school.
