Knoxville — Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik reports that two road projects are in the works this week. The information is below.
Work will commence on the Water Street Stormwater Improvements project on Monday, April 1. The contractor, S.L. Baumaier, had to cease work last winter due to inclement weather. The intersection of Montgomery and Water Street has been closed to traffic for the duration of winter. Work will begin on Monday and should be completed within a few weeks.
On Tuesday, April 2, Kent Street will be closed between Reno and Rock Island streets to repair concrete panels in the street. Last fall, a homeowner repaired a sewer connection and due to the cold season, concrete work could not be completed until Spring 2013.
The contractor, TK Concrete, will start removals on Tuesday morning and will be ready to pour first thing Wednesday morning. They will use M-4 concrete mix which cures in 48 hours (much faster than regular mix). The street will be reopened to traffic by Friday, April 5, 2013.
