Gov. Branstad has appointed Woodard Hearing Centers Doctor of Audiology, Kent Weaver, to the Licensure Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists for the state of Iowa. Dr. Weavers’ appointment term will begin May 1, 2013.
Dr. Weaver received his Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. He also earned his Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Louisiana State University Medical Center.
Dr. Weaver is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), Iowa Speech and Hearing Association, and the Iowa Hearing Association where he serves on the board. He sees patients in Des Moines, Urbandale, Boone, Chariton, Knoxville, Mount Ayr and Osceola.
Dr. Weaver has been practicing Audiology since 1997. He has been a Guest Speaker and provided Specialty Presentations at the University of Iowa and Des Moines University on auditory anatomy, auditory processing and current hearing aid technology over the last 5 years.
Kent is a native of Boone and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys the open water, working on antique wooden sail boats, composing music, performing with a variety of musical groups and serves as a Church Musician at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
