City properties still available

Knoxville — Information provided Aug. 5 indicates that the City has blighted property available for sale, some of which is still left over from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. 

There is $92,222 worth of property the City purchased through the NSP, which was a State grant intended to remove properties in disrepair throughout the City. Sale of these properties is restricted to low-income housing and the City cannot make a profit on their sale. 

In addition to NSP properties, the City has properties that have cost $62,320 to acquire. These are blighted properties as well. Total investment by the CIty, through grant funds and City funds, to purchase these properties, is $154,542. 

While the City is trying to market the land, size and zoning may restrict what they can be used for. Below is a list of these properties, their cost, size, whether or not there is an existing building, funding source and zoning. 

• 1103 East Robinson: No cost, .21 acre lot size, existing building, City, zoned R2.

• 613 West Main: No cost, .08 acre lot size, existing building, City, zoned R2.

• 610 West Robinson: No cost, .21 acre lot size, existing building, City, zoned R2.

• 418 West Rock Island: No cost, .19 acre lot size, existing building, City, zoned R3.

• 913 North Kent: $12,880, .17 acre lot size, no existing building, NSP, zoned R2.

• 505 West Baker: $9,020, .08 acre lot size, existing building, NSP, zoned R2.

• 314 North First: No cost, .15 acre lot size, no existing building, City, zoned R3.

• 401 Third Street Place: $10,370, .15 acre lot size, no existing building, NSP, zoned R2. 

• 413 West Robinson: $12,880, .17 acre lot size, no existing building, NSP, zoned R2.

• 1510 West Pleasant: $25,000, 1.08 acre lot size, no existing building, City, zoned C2.

• 610 West Montgomery: $15,000, .17 acre lot size, no existing building, NSP, zoned R2.

• 309 South First: $9,020, .08 acre lot size, no existing building, City, zoned R3.

• 705 South Second: $17,472, .20 acre lot size, no existing building, NSP, zoned R2.

• 1206 East Main: $7,300, .08 acre lot size, no existing building, City, zoned C2.

• 1514 East Marion: $21,000, .44 acre lot size, no existing building, City, zoned C2.

• 1614 East Marion: No cost, .18 acre lot size, no existing building, City, zoned C2. 

• 510 South Sixth: $14,600, .19 acre lot size, no existing building, NSP, zoned R2. 

Among these properties listed, 610 West Main, 505 West Baker, 314 North First, 401 Third Street Place and 309 South First are smaller than the minimum residential lot size. 913 North Kent, 413 West Robinson and 610 West Montgomery are close to the minimum lot size. 1103 East Robinson, 610 West Robinson, 418 West Rock Island, 705 South Second and 610 South Sixth are greater than the minimum lot size. 

The minimum lot size for R2 is 7,200 square feet. For R3, the minimum varies.
