Knoxville — Knoxville Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik said 108 and 110 East Robinson are scheduled to be demolished Wednesday, June 19, beginning at 7 a.m.
"We wanted to move as fast as we could," Feik said.
The process is expected to take 7-10 days. Final utility disconnection was scheduled for today. Adjoining property owners have been notified and advised to try to have their buildings as empty as possible during demolition. Fire Chief Nick Bonstell, Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson, local utility companies and the Knoxville Police Department are expected to monitor the demolition process.
The Sundance Realty building was damaged during the March fire that claimed 110 East Robinson. Owners have been unable to get inside to make repairs with 110 still standing. Feik said that once 110 is down, repairs can begin, as the City has done everything possible to ensure that everything is properly insured and safe.
