Knoxville Prom is Saturday

---- — Knoxville High School’s annual prom will be held Saturday, April 20. Tickets for this year’s event were $40 each. After Prom tickets were $25 each.

According to KHS Principal Kevin Crawford, the school controls the prices of prom. Junior parents make the decisions regarding the costs of After Prom. Opportunities are present for students to raise funds for the cost of their tickets. If a student sells eight subscriptions during their junior and senior years, they are admitted free.

“I have only been part of the post prom work three times,” Crawford said. “I do know that it is very expensive for the entertainment, food, and prizes. The community has been very generous in their donations over the years. It has helped reduce the cost to the students. In my years here, I have never heard a parent concerned about the cost of post prom. In fact, I believe kids have an attitude that if they are attending prom, it is expected that they attend post prom.”

Walk in starts at 7 p.m. Couples will arrive at West Elementary, where valets will take their cars and move them to the student parking lot. Kids will walk in front of West, down Park Lane, and enter the building at the southeast door to the high school. The Knoxville Police Department will at least close the southbound lane of Park Lane. Anywhere along Park Lane or the sidewalk to the high school should be a good vantage point for those who want to observe the walk-in.
