Ladies' Night is December 5

Knoxville — Knoxville businesses are working together to host a ladies' night event on Thursday, Dec. 5. On that night, several shops will be open until at least 8 p.m.

Chamber of Commerce Director Larissa Van Donselaar reports that the "Damsels in Deer Hunting" event is targeted at the female demographic, though everyone is encouraged to shop Knoxville. There is a growing list of businesses that intend to participate, including several downtown and on the Highway 14 corridor. At least 20 have already expressed plans to participate. Maps of participating stores will be available at the Chamber office and in participating stores.

One of the participating stores is Gibson Jewelry. Owner Rick Gibson said the focus of his evening will be the ladies' wish lists, where customers can come in and make a list of what they would like to receive as gifts. Some might choose to buy his special $98 diamond earrings that evening.

The Chamber is sponsoring a Gifts of Knoxville basket giveway. Gibson will also likely have a drawing of its own.

Van Donselaar said last year's event went well and the Chamber wanted to bring it back. Downtown got a boost from Living Windows, despite the bad weather, Van Donselaar reports. She said several businesses she has talked to said their numbers were up over last year.

"There was a silver lining," Van Donselaar said.

The event is still a work in progress. Be sure to check the Tuesday, Dec. 3, edition of the Marion County Reminder for more details and specials for the event.
