Marion County — The possibility for severe weather is expected to move in tonight, and continue through Friday night.
Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson said the National Weather Service in Des Moines - which will continue to operate 24/7, despite the federal government shutdown - held a conference call this afternoon to discuss the threat.
According to a webinar conducted by NWS (http://www.crh.noaa.gov/dmx/?n=webbriefing) the worst is expected to come in tomorrow. Chances for tornadoes exist in Iowa counties north of Marion County. The situation will continue to be monitored for changes.
Anderson also advised school officials to be aware of the risk for severe weather, which could occur during scheduled football games.
