---- — The Knoxville Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum continued their Sprint Car 101 series with the program “Meet the Announcers” on Thursday, Sept. 19. With host Tom Schmeh the audience met with five past/present Knoxville race track announcers. Announcers from the past were Jack Herwehe (1981-97) and Tim Trier (1979-1991). Those serving the Raceway at present were Tony Bokhoven, Mike Roberts, and Jason Price.

To start the evenings program, host Tom Schmeh introduced the panel participants and asked them to tell about how they came to be announcers and about their terms of service at Knoxville.

As the evening progressed, members of the panel, in response to questions from Tom Schmeh, related stories about their experiences with other announcers, race car drivers, crew members, and the public. The stories were informative and often amusing giving the audience an inside view of the job of a race announcer as well as providing an entertaining evening.

The Sprint Car 101 series is held on the third Thursday of the month at the Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum at 7 p.m. The programs are free and open to the public.
