City of Knoxville
Knoxville — Starting today, staff from the City of Knoxville - Streets Division will be at the brush dump conducting an open burn. The site is located on Main Street at the East side of town. A large brush pile (tree, brush and wood debris) has accumulated over the last few years and to reduce the pile, staff will use a backhoe to remove smaller piles from the dump area and burn smaller amounts in an isolated pit. This will help staff control the fire and maintain safety at all times. The smoke should be minimally invasive to neighboring properties with little wind in the forecast. Fires will be put out each afternoon (no nightburns) and burning will commence in the morning. The work will be done before the end of this week.
