What's going on with Robinson Street?

City of Knoxville

Knoxville —

Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik reports that, early this morning, Jasper Construction began replacing street panels on the section of Robinson Street from Roche to Second, and a few panels just north of Robinson on First  Street. This repair work is covered by the warranty for the Downtown Streetscape Project completed years ago and has been scheduled for some time. All work will be completed before the end of this week.
"Although the repair work was scheduled, the City did not communicate the work with local businesses and residents. It is inexcusable for the City of Knoxville to have such poor communication with residents/businesses. This year, the City has had major construction projects underway including $700,000 of Local Street Replacement, over $100,000 of sidewalk replacement, the completion of the $5.2 million West Area Sewer Project (Hwy14/Pleasant Intersection) and the Water Street Stormwater Improvement Project. Each of these projects affects the livelihoods of neighboring property owners, both citizens and businesses, and the City must improve communication before, during, and after each of these projects," Feik added.
