Knoxville — The newly revised Application for Disabled Veterans Homestead Tax Credit (Iowa Department of Revenue Form 54-049a) is available for completion and submission to local county assessor's offices by qualified disabled veterans and DIC. This is for 100 percent disabled service-connected/dependency and indemnity compensation.
The form, along with a current benefits paid letter, must be submitted no later than July 1, 2013, to obtain the tax exemption for this year. Applicants must have the benefits paid letter when they make application. This can be obtained by contacting the US Veterans affairs at 1-800-827-1000, visiting a US Veterans Affairs Office, or through the veterans' e-benefits account online.
