Supervisors to meet April 10
The Marion County Board of Supervisors will meet in special session Thursday, April 10, at 9:30 a.m., at the Pleasantville Memorial Hall.
Full House should take up Raceway bill next week
As we broke the news yesterday on Facebook, the Iowa House Ways and Means Committee approved a tax rebate, worth up to $2 million, for the Knoxville Raceway on Monday. The full House will be able to address the bill on April 14.
Clock faces removed
Work has begun on the courthouse clock tower project. Looking up at the tower on Tuesday, one would see that the faces of the clock, on all four sides, are missing.
Paving should begin this month
The Knoxville Streetscape and Infrastructure Project is on schedule. Following a meeting Tuesday morning, those involved indicate that paving on Robinson should begin this month.
Video: Burn ban in place in Marion County
The dry weather, coupled with numerous grass fire calls over the past several days, has led to the fire chiefs of Marion County to support a burn ban. The ban went into effect at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
West students help Davis family
The students, faculty and staff of West Elementary have once again opened their hearts and piggy banks. In the month of March, West Elementary raised $1,838.55 for Penelope Davis, a toddler stricken with cancer.
UPDATE: KRFD fights wide field fire
We now know more about a fire broke out in a field at the corner of Pratt Drive and 150th, approximately five miles south of Knoxville, Monday afternoon.
Law enforcement seeks help
The Marion County Sheriff's and Attorney's Offices, along with the Pella Police Department, are helping the FBI locate an unidentified male suspected of having ties to child pornography.
Legislators report to Knoxville
The final Legislative Coffee of 2014 was held Friday afternoon in Knoxville, with Rep. Greg Heartsill and Sen. Amy Sinclair in attendance.
