Knoxville — This website, www.journalexpress.net, has been selected as Community Newspaper Holding's Website of the Year for non-daily publications.
CNHI has over 50 non-daily publications throughout the United States. While not all of these publications run websites, a majority of them do.
"Breaking news updates and a diligent effort to incorporate multimedia, including video, are highlights of this community news website," contest judges commented. "In addition, the Journal-Express complements its website and print editions with thoughtful, consistent use of social media. The newsroom does an exceptional job of prompting Facebook followers with questions and links to its website, deepening engagement with its community."
"I am very proud of the staff at the Journal-Express for all of their hard work on behalf of the newspaper and the community," Journal-Express Publisher Maureen Miller said.
"This is a great honor," Editor Steve Woodhouse said. "I appreciate the recognition of our efforts to make this website the best it can be. Moreover, I appreciate the support of the Journal-Express by our subscribers, advertisers and others for our success on all platforms."
This is the second consecutive year this award has come to Marion County. The Pella Chronicle (www.pellachronicle.com) earned the award in 2013. The Chronicle was also a finalist in this year's contest.
