Knoxville — Marion County Supervisor Craig Agan secured the Republican nomination for his reelection campaign by defeating Adam Wadle.
Agan received 1,077 votes to Wadle's 663. There were 2,012 Republican ballots submitted in the election.
Races for other County offices were uncontested. Agan has no Democratic challenger in the general election.
Republican ballots represented 8 percent of eligible voters in Marion County. There were 244 Democratic ballots cast, or less than 1 percent of all eligible voters.
Marion County Republicans followed the rest of the state by choosing Joni Ernst as the nominee to face Bruce Braley in the US Senate race. Ernst received 1,156 votes. The second-highest vote getter was Sam Clovis, with 427.
Mariannette Miller-Meeks won the Republican nomination for Iowa's Second Congressional District, but she did not carry Marion County. Miller-Meeks received 591 votes, behind MarK Lofgren, who received 722. Matt Waldren received 389 votes.
