Knoxville — Convicted sex offender Sidney Lawrence Graham has been released from prison.

He reached his "commitment end date" on June 26. Graham was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual abuse. His victims were two young boys he took on a camping trip. Graham was serving as principal of Knoxville's West Elementary at the time of his crimes.

Graham's release falls in line with Iowa Code 903A.2 ( which covers earned time. Basically, for every day Graham served in prison, 1.2 days came off of the back end of his sentence. The crime Graham pled guilty to did not include a mandatory minimum. Graham entered the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections on Nov. 4, 2004. He was also given credit for the 164 days he served in the Marion County Jail.

"We're not supervising him anymore," DOC Spokesperson Fred Scaletta told the Journal-Express. Graham has registered as a sex offender and appears to be living in Burlington. (

There are no restrictions regarding his employment or residency.
