Officer Kenny Hucks has been named as the new School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Knoxville Police Department. Officer Hucks began his career with the Knoxville Police Department on June 17, 1995. He has worked patrol , was a member of the regional drug task force, and is a field training officer for the Department.
The SRO position was created when the Knoxville Police Department received a Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Grant in June 2012. The grant allowed the Department to hire a military veteran as an additional officer. That veteran is currently in training and will replace Officer Hucks as a patrol officer.
The Knoxville Police Department is excited to be working with the Knoxville Public Schools to make this SRO position possible. We thank them for their help in creating and funding the position and look forward to having a successful program.
