Knoxville — At 5:23 p.m. Saturday night, the Marion County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call for assistance at 1308 160th Ave., Knoxville, in reference to an unresponsive man with a single gunshot wound to the chest. The sheriff's office and Iowa State Patrol responded and secured the scene. First responders were called and attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful. He was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Cary Hardie Wells, II, DOB 7/1/1990. Foul play is not suspected at this time, though the investigation is ongoing. The Iowa State Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy. The sheriff's office and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating.

Three vehicles were involved in two separate accidents around 7:40 a.m. Friday morning. Those involved refused transport, but the accidents could have been much worse.
