Knoxville — A severe storm hit Perry last night during RAGBRAI's overnight stay, which damaged stage equipment that was going to be used in Knoxville. However, the show will go on as new equipment has been located.
Knoxville RAGBRAI Entertainment Committee Chair Dylan Morse told the Journal-Express that one of the four stages being used in Des Moines tonight will be brought to Knoxville on Wednesday to serve as the main concert stage. Morse said the stage will be close to, if not identical to, the original stage plan.
Morse learned about the damaged stage around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. The original stage company was going to attempt to salvage the stage to bring to Knoxville, but the damage was too great. Morse credits Michael Suhr, a music committee member, who used his connections to ensure that a main stage will be available Wednesday night.
"The show must go on," Morse said. Everything is on schedule for tomorrow and the bands coming to Knoxville should be able to play as planned.
In closing, Morse asks local residents to remember to wear their RAGBRAI t-shirts tomorrow, bring a positive attitude and be ready to have a good time.
