Water work will affect downtown

Journal-Express

Knoxville — The following is from Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik:

Earlier this week at the bi-weekly Streetscape Meeting, the group discussed upcoming work on the water main. Beginning today (Thursday) at 2:00pm, the Knoxville Water Department will begin work on the water main at the intersection of Robinson and Second Street which will include installation of the last water hydrant.

The Water Dept. will temporarily shut off the water services along Second Street for the repair which will be completed later in the evening. All business owners/occupants were notified earlier this week of the scheduled repair.

Two of the three restaurants along Second Street will not have water but should not be adversely affected (Lucky Buffet is temporarily closed and Red Ribbon is closed after 2 p.m.). The remaining restaurant (Taso’s) will have a temporary water connection from Robinson Street and will have water during the scheduled repair. They will remain open for business.

For any questions or concerns, please contact the Knoxville Water Department or the City of Knoxville.
