Knoxville — The Downtown Streetscape project has moved on to Third Street. Work remains on Second and Robinson Streets.
Today, intersections at Second and Robinson, as well as Third and Robinson, were closed. Crews were busy working on the pavers at the intersection of Second and Robinson. Sidewalk work is also ongoing at Third and Robinson.
City Manager Harold Stewart is unsure of a completion date for this sidewalk work.
Third Street, up to Main, has been closed. The major reason for the streetscape project is to replace aging infrastructure below, which is the next step for Third Street.
Though Third is closed, the contractor has worked with Marion County to pour gravel for a temporary road to provide access to the courthouse parking lot. A crew working on project on the courthouse clock tower still needs access to the lot, to have access to the building.
Businesses on Third Street said they have not noticed any decline in business yet.
