Knoxville — Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart is one of four finalists for the City Manager's position in Minot, N.D.
Stewart told the Journal-Express that he was recruited to apply for the position, and actually turned down the search firm twice before deciding to apply. Minot is the only community in which he has applied for a job.
Stewart said he is looking into the job to make sure that Knoxville is where he and his family are supposed to be. He said the job in Minot would have to be "perfect" for him to consider leaving Knoxville.
"My family and I have been very happy here in Knoxville," Stewart said. He believes that this opportunity is worth a serious look, but he and his family still love Knoxville.
After tonight's council meeting, Stewart intends to take a vacation beginning tomorrow. He will interview for the job July 14-15 in Minot, but the vacation was planned prior to his notification of being a finalist for the job.
According to its website, the City of Minot had a population of 40,888 in 2010.
