VA, chickens, off-road vehicles on agenda

Knoxville — Tuesday night's regular Knoxville City Council meeting will include the first reading of a proposed ordinance regarding chickens inside City limits, as well as discussion regarding a proposal to turn the VA enhanced use lease over to the City.

As reported, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended passage of a proposed ordinance regarding chickens at a recent meeting. Tonight's agenda includes the first reading of the proposed ordinance.

The Knoxville Veterans Alliance, after struggling for two years to find a subleasing entity large enough to secure the cash flow to sign an enhanced use lease with the Department of Veterans Affairs, has offered the lease to the City of Knoxville. A discussion about whether or not the City should do this is also on the agenda.

A discussion will also be held regarding the use of off-road vehicles in City limits. There are several other items on the agenda as well.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. inside the council chambers at City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
