---- — Anne Kuchan, 94, of Melcher, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Knoxville Hospital.
Anne was born in Melcher to Charles and Mary (Polich) Kuchan on Nov. 30, 1918. She received her education from Melcher High School in 1936. Anne was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Melcher. Meredith Publishing employed her for many years in Des Moines.
Anne enjoyed working in her church displaying floral arrangements throughout the season on the altar. She was a basketball player in High School and enjoyed watching basketball on television. Anne loved to cook, especially her soups and pastas for the Iowa Hawkeye Basketball season. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings football games.
Survivors include, two grandchildren: Nicole Michaelson (Craig) of Saginaw, Minn., Kelsi Gurnsey of New Prague, Minn., brother, Chuck (Ellisene) Kuchan of Indianola and many nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Lecia Gurnsey, three sisters: Vange Stewart, Helen Reagan, Pat Barnes and her parents, preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family. Condolences may be left at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com.
