---- — Doris Pauline Edwards, age 83 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at her home in Knoxville on Friday, March 22, 2013.
Doris Pauline Park was born on June 30, 1929, the only daughter of Herbert “Herb” and Georgia Pearl (Slocum) Park, in Ottumwa.
She was raised on her family’s farm north of Knoxville. On Aug. 24, 1947, Doris married the love of her lifetime Bob “Eddie” Edwards. Together they raised their family of three: Pennie, Robin and Edye.
Doris was very proud to be a homemaker and being home was where she loved to be cleaning, cooking, attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She always said, “There’s nothing more fun than a house full of kids”. She loved to play cards and marbles with them and laughter filled the home. She was a very passionate Iowa State Cyclone fan and everything stopped when the Cyclones were playing.
Doris is survived by her husband Bob “Eddie” Edwards; their children: Pennie (Dwight) Sommar, Robert W. “Robin” (Aundra) Edwards II, and Edye Waits; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her brother Max (Donna) Park; and many treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Herb and Georgia Park; and four brothers: Harry, Jack, Bill, and Cliff Park.
Per Doris’ wishes she has been cremated and her memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 26, also at the Celebrate Community Church of Knoxville. Burial followed services at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville.
