Norma Jean Beal was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Marion County, the daughter of Harold and Fairy (Bishop) Hart.
She graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1939. In 1942 she was united in marriage to William Thomas Beal. The couple farmed in Marion County most of their lives, with the exception of living in State Center for a few years. Norma was the consummate farm wife; she raised a garden, baked and sewed. In later years, she enjoyed traveling.
Norma Jean passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 92 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1994; three sons: William, Dwayne and Wayne Beal; brother, Richard Anderson and sister, Connie Beebe.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters: Joanne (Dave) Patton of Oskaloosa and Patricia Watkins (Randy Puyear) of Tracy; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister, Florence McDaniel of Yorba Linda, Calif.; brother, Larry Anderson of Tracy and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service was held at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home – Knoxville on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, with Pastor Brent Hanna, officiating. Musical Selections were “Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden”. Casket Bearers were Richard Heck, Jason Van Houten, James Beal, Joshua Beal, Adam Beal and Caleb Beal. Honorary Casket Bearers were Dennis Kraber and Raymond Kraber. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery – Tracy. Memorials may be made to the Clay Township Fire & Rescue Department.
